We worked on the Discovery annual sales conference at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, assisting with the large-scale branding and event production across the venue. The theme for the conference was Ikigai, the Japanese philosophy centred around purpose, meaning, and finding the balance between passion and fulfilment.
The goal was to bring that theme into the venue in a way that felt immersive from the moment guests arrived. We focused on large-format branding, impactful structures, and overhead rigged elements that created a consistent visual identity throughout the event.
Walking into the venue, guests were met with a series of freestanding double-sided branded totems leading into an eight-metre-high entrance feature wall wrapped in large-scale Ikigai branding. In front of the wall, we installed oversized 3D Ikigai letters standing at roughly one and a half metres high to create a strong photo and social media moment for attendees.
Inside the conference hall, we produced a 35-metre-wide multi-tiered circular rigged banner structure suspended above the audience space. The installation used layered blended colour fades and integrated lighting to create a dramatic centrepiece that carried the Ikigai theme throughout the conference environment.
The entire installation was completed within a two-day build programme at the Sandton Convention Centre using a crew of 25, involving careful logistics planning, coordinated hall access, and the assembly and lifting of large overhead structures inside an active conference venue.
